Earlier this month, the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) made a public announcement, saying it would strengthen its global competitiveness. The main goal was to abolish the mandatory rules for participating in major tournaments in Korea and to award points to players participating in major tournaments overseas. Until now, KLPGA tour players had been able to participate in major tournaments overseas by going through world rankings and fierce preliminaries, but it was difficult for them to participate in major tournaments if their schedules overlap with those of major tournaments in Korea. Notably, some players couldn't make up their mind to participate in major tournaments overseas because the points for participation were not reflected when skipping a domestic tournament.
Players are also proactively responding to the decision by announcing their participation in overseas major competitions. The 80th U.S. Women's Open, a four-day major competition of the LPGA Tour, will take place in Erin Hills, Wisconsin, from March 29 to June 1.

Six KLPGA Tour players, including Hwang Yoo-min, Bae So-hyun, Madasom, Kim Soo-ji, Yoo Hyun-jo and Noh Seung-hee, have been granted exemption from the preliminary round and confirmed their participation. All six are showing strong will to participate in not only the U.S. Women's Open but also in competitions that will be granted the right to participate.

Madasom is the most aggressive player in preparing for a major overseas competition. He is serious about challenging himself in major competitions, including hiring a local caddie to play at a tournament. "It's good to learn as much as I can participate in a big event, but I will achieve good results and build my self-esteem as a KLPGA tour," Madasom said.

"Autumn Queen" Kim Soo-ji is also looking forward to doing well in overseas major tournaments through physical and short game practice. Having played in the Amundi Evian Championship (joint ninth) in 2023 and the U.S. Women's Open (joint 29th) last year, she said, "I think positively about the atmosphere of encouraging participation in overseas major tournaments in the KLPGA Tour. If there is an opportunity to participate in competitions other than the U.S. Women's Open and my schedule and condition follow, I would like to participate."

Hwang Yoo-min, the "Assault Captain" who confirmed his participation in this year's U.S. Women's Open and Amundi Evian Championship, also said, "I wanted to experience big stages often while participating in last year's Evian Championship. I will participate in major competitions that I can participate in." 먹튀검증

Bae So-hyun, the joint multi-win king of last season, who is about to participate in his first overseas major tournament at the age of 32, said, "I will do my best to achieve good results without simply paying significance to my participation in a major tournament at a late age."
